The Client

Pala Casino Spa and Resort is a casino and hotel located in northern San Diego County, on the Pala Indian Reservation. It is owned and operated by the Pala Band of Mission Indians, a federally recognized tribe. Pala was seeking to modernize their site to remain competitive.

The Project

We collaborated with our friends at Mobiah in deploying a highly customized WordPress installation featuring several custom plugins.

One of the core requirements was the ability to test any content changes before going live. We created a plugin that allows them to synchronize their development website to their production website with a single click. We create a backup copy of their database, replace all development URLS with production URLs, push the database to production and sync all files with rsync.

We also used custom meta fields and WordPress’s pseuo cron functionality for publishing and removing content on specific dates. Additionally, the banners at the bottom of the site are managed with Pods CMS. There’s a lot more going on in the backend of this site than this little writeup can explain!
